Ragdoll (TV series)

Ragdoll is a thriller miniseries adapted from Daniel Cole's novel of the same name. It aired in the U.S. on AMC+ starting November 11, 2021, and in the U.K. on Alibi from December 6, 2021. The story is set in London and centers on the murder of six people, whose bodies have been cut apart and stitched together into a single, grotesque figure called "the Ragdoll." As police detectives investigate, the killer begins to mock and threaten them.

The cast includes Henry Lloyd-Hughes as DS Nathan Rose, a police officer who becomes the killer's next target; Thalissa Teixeira as DI Emily Baxter; Lucy Hale as Lake Edmunds, a former New Jersey police officer now working as a DC; Michael Smiley as DS Finlay; Ali Cook as DCI Terrence Simmons; Natasha Little as Andrea Wyld; Kobna Holdbrook-Smith as Joel Shepton; Angus Wright as Judge Wingate; Amita Dhiri as Deputy Commissioner Vanita; Phil Davis as Mayor Turnbull; Camilla Beeput as Alyssa; Douggie McMeekin as Eric Turner; Samantha Spiro as Joy; and Sam Troughton as Thomas Massey, the Ragdoll Killer.

In February 2021, AMC and Alibi announced they would co-produce the series, with Freddy Syborn adapting the novel and serving as executive producer. Sid Gentle Films and AMC Studios handled production, while BBC Studios managed worldwide distribution. Lucy Hale joined the cast in March 2021, followed by Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Thalissa Teixeira in April. Principal photography began in London in May 2021.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds a 90% approval rating from 10 critics, with an average score of 7.9/10. The site's consensus notes that the show avoids feeling like a recycled serial killer story, thanks to its dry humor and strong cast chemistry. On Metacritic, it received a weighted score of 65 out of 100 from 8 critics, indicating generally favorable reviews. Daniel Fienberg of *The Hollywood Reporter* described the series as a "metaphor" rather than a conventional TV show, adding that it offers enough unsettling moments to satisfy genre fans.
