The Marlow Murder Club (TV series)

The Marlow Murder Club is a British-American cosy mystery comedy-drama series, adapted from Robert Thorogood’s novels set in the Buckinghamshire town of Marlow. It is a co-production between UKTV and Masterpiece, airing in the UK on U&Drama and in the US on PBS, and available for streaming on U and PBS Passport.

The first series, a single story told across four episodes, was written by Thorogood from his own novel. The second series, which started airing in the UK on 19 March 2025, features three two-episode stories: the first adapted by Thorogood from his sequel *Death Comes to Marlow*, and the other two original tales by different writers. In May 2025, a third series was ordered, following the same three-story format. It includes an adaptation of Thorogood’s third novel, *The Queen of Poisons*, which aired on 18 March 2026, followed by *Murder in the Dark* on 25 March and *An Appetite for Murder* on 1 April. A fourth series was commissioned in 2026, again using the three-story structure, and will adapt Thorogood’s fourth novel, *Murder on the Marlow Belle*.

**Premise** After two murders in Marlow, three local women form an informal club to investigate. Judith Potts is a retired archaeologist who sets crosswords for the town newspaper. Suzie Harris works as a professional dog walker. Becks Starling, a former music industry executive, struggles to adjust to life as the vicar’s wife. Detective Sergeant Tanika Malik, leading the police response while DI Gareth Hoskins is on leave, is initially skeptical but later hires the trio as civilian advisors. The women’s family lives provide subplots: Judith inherited her riverside home from her late aunt and was briefly married to a fellow archaeologist; Suzie has an 18-year-old daughter from her Jamaican ex-husband; Becks and her husband Colin have a teenage son and daughter; Tanika and her husband Shamil have a young daughter, Shanti, and Tanika feels conflicted between work and home.
